Chopin's First Editions Online has been made possible through the generous support of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, which provided over £320,000 in funding through its Resource Enhancement programme to realise this initiative between March 2004 and August 2007. Further support has been offered by the Department of Music, Royal Holloway, University of London, and, indirectly, by the Scholarly Communications Program of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation through funding awarded to the Online Chopin Variorum Edition.

George W. Platzman, Jan Ekier, James Fuld and Alain Planès kindly allowed access to their personal collections of Chopin first editions. Staff at numerous institutions also offered considerable assistance. Special thanks are due to Dr Alice Schreyer and her colleagues at the University of Chicago Library, who provided extensive advice and materials in addition to the excellent Chopin Early Editions resource, which in many ways has served as a model for CFEO. Grzegorz Michalski and Artur Szklener of the Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina also deserve particular credit, as do staff at the Biblioteka Narodowa, Bodleian Library, British Library, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Pierpont Morgan Library and Towarzystwo im. Fryderyka Chopina. Four of the lead institutions waived permission fees in entirety, as did over half of the remaining libraries, while other institutions significantly reduced their charges. All of this greatly benefited CFEO's work.
